Roon ROCKs! Building a Roon Server with ASUS NUC
Guide — #01 Spring Edition
In digital audio, Roon uses an architecture that separates the “brain” of the system — the Roon Core — from the playback endpoint. The idea is to place library management and services on a dedicated server while leaving the streamer to handle playback.
The guide published in issue #01 uses an ASUS NUC as the foundation for a Roon Server and explains the benefits of centralised management: metadata, biographies, reviews, links between artists and the integration of local libraries with streaming services such as Tidal and Qobuz.
The principle is simple: divide responsibilities to create a cleaner, more flexible system designed specifically for listening.
